We are seeking local, reputable writer-teachers to work with students in our AWE (Academy for Writers and Entrepreneurs) program beginning this September at the Ligonier Valley YMCA. If you have teaching experience and are a skilled writer, consider a Saturday writing instructor position with Write Local’s AWE program.
-Experience working in a group setting with middle school and/or high schools students.
-Availability on Saturdays from 12:00-1:30 PM beginning September 26, 2015 and ending November 7, 2015.
-Available for planning and evaluation meetings with the program director.
-Must be knowledgeable/passionate about the connection between creativity and entrepreneurship, and must demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking in your own professional/artistic life.
-Experience with lesson planning and/or curriculum design.
-Ability to work independently, to communicate remotely, and to be on time.
-Preferred qualifications: experience working with a literary magazine or other types of publishing venues. Previously published in some manner.

In the nonprofit administration track, you will contribute to the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a nonprofit. Depending on your skills, you might help with fundraising, grants, publicity, events, copy writing, and volunteer management. The in-school volunteer role is perfect for you if you love children and have some free time during the day. We are recruiting in-school volunteers to begin in January, 2015. You’ll get to assist with our after-school workshops in a variety of ways including setting up, registering participants, reading a story, and assisting a writer. This is the perfect role for you if you can volunteer in person but have limited time; as an after-school workshop volunteer, you can join us for as few or as many workshops as you desire.
