Volunteer Spotlight: Kirra Lent

Please join Write Local in welcoming our newest volunteer, Kirra Lent.

Originally from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Kirra attends California University of Pennsylvania where she is studying Secondary Education Social Studies and English.

Not only is Kirra a writer, but she is heavily involved with her college community: she is part of the travel club, history club, and is the founder of the Learners Outreach Club which pairs college mentors with high school students.

Kirra is currently developing her “dream” creative thinking event for Write Local. She has tentatively titled the workshop “To Infinity and Beyond” and plans to launch the program this March. The goal of Kirra’s workshop is for writers to design their own fictional worlds to show how setting is important when creating a piece of writing.

Write Local’s mission appeals to Kirra’s love of personalized writing. Kirra believes that “Write Local really gives kids of all ages a chance to use and build upon their current creativity [and…] reminds students that personalization is ok, showing them how to create pieces that mean something to them.”

We are thrilled to welcome Kirra to the volunteer team at Write Local. Stay tuned to watch her “To Infinity and Beyond” workshop come to life!
